As the one year anniversary of Michael’s passing approaches, my wish is for everyone to take a moment from your busy lives reflect on him and to always “Remember Mike”. Remember his handsome face and smile, his quick wit and humor, his kindness and giving spirit, his dedication to his patients, family and friends, his willingness to drop everything for anyone in need…the list goes on and on.
He was truly a “gift” to all who knew and loved him. My favorite thing to say to my sons at Christmas, birthdays or any holiday for that matter: “I don’t need gifts, YOU’RE my gift”! God provided us with two beautiful sons and I treasure that “gift” each and every day! Our time with Mike was much shorter than we planned on, but the memories together go way beyond the years and they will stay in my heart and soul forever.
Soon, Tom and I will be moving to NC to start a new chapter in our life’s journey. It’s bittersweet for certain, but at the same time, we are confident that it’s the right decision and we are looking forward to many more wonderful memories ahead.
So “Remember Mike” on March 28th and know that he would not want us to continue in being sad when we think of him, but to carry on as he always did with strength, dignity, humor and kindness to others. Our love to all.

Happy Birthday Mike! I know you of all people would not want us so sad on your birthday but, you are so loved and so missed. Your spirit lives on through all those your life touched-family, friends, those you have helped, the many children who adored their ” Uncle (cousin)Mike.” I was blessed to get to share so much time with you. Much love and peace, my cousin, my dear friend.

I was lucky enough to celebrate some birthdays with Mike throughout our 20′s across the miles. In our 30′s I couldn’t travel as much but always called him that day. Today is the first birthday I will not be able to speak to him and hear all about how he celebrated. With a heavy heart I will celebrate him today by remembering the fun times we had together. I wish I could tell him how thankful I was that he would come home for big (or even little) occasions, and tell him how much I loved coming to visit him whether it was Vermont or Boston. I miss him more as every day goes by. I am sending an extra hug and thoughts to his family today knowing it will be an especially hard one.

Love you Mike,
Betsy

Happy 35th Birthday to my son, who is loved and missed more than ever imagined possible. I’m feeling so blessed that God gave us 34 years of special birthday memories to hold onto, smile about and cherish forever. I will remember the pride I felt the day you were born and that pride continued throughout the years we had you in our lives.

I can still hear the happiness and excitement in your voice from the top of your favorite ski slope in Vermont last year on your birthday. I’m so glad you were able to experience the beauty of the mountains and the passion of the sport in the place that you loved!

As your cousin said “I’m sure Grandma has a very special day planned for you” Live, Laugh, Love my beautiful son till we meet again.

Our 1st Christmas without Mike was very hard and sadly we know it will never be the same again, but we are so grateful that Ryan and Lindsey were able to get home safely and that we could help each other through it. Bailey brought laughter as we watched her open presents. Lindsey and I made a snowman on Christmas Day which was fun too. Thank you for the many calls, texts, cards and FB messages from all who loved him (and us). It’s wonderful that his friends are gathering tomorrow in his honor to remember their “social director” who kept them connected throughout the years. Tomorrow is 9 months, but it honestly feels like 9 years. We all miss and love you Mike!

Our nephew Jim and his wife Emily gave birth to a beautiful baby boy yesterday (John Michael James). A proud day for all. We are so honored that they chose to use Michael for his middle name and we know that he will watch over his namesake forever. Jim & Emily, congratulations…..you just received the BEST Christmas gift ever!
